Master of Monsters is a turn-based strategy game created by Japanese software developer System Soft (now System Soft Alpha) for the MSX and NEC PC8801 later ported to a variety of consoles and PCs including the PC Engine, NEC PC9801, Sega Mega Drive (Genesis), Sega Saturn and PlayStation. While it never garnered the same success as its System Soft stablemate Daisenryaku, the game has garnered a loyal following over the years. Its success in the US market on the Sega Genesis proved sufficient for a sequel on the Sega Saturn and an anime art-style enhanced PlayStation version titled "Disciples of Gaia" with a Japanese RPG feel.1
Today, System Soft Alpha has returned the game to its strategy-based roots, and the 2 titles (I, and "Final" – but not II) in the Master of Monsters series as originally popularized on the NEC 9801 PC were updated by System Soft Alpha with new graphics and gameplay features. Two more sequels (3 and 4) were made for Japanese Windows and harken back to the deep strategic gameplay of the NEC PC9801 versions (as opposed to the more casual Genesis and PlayStation versions). Available for Japanese language Windows-based systems, the remakes include マスターオブモンスターズIII Special Edition, マスターオブモンスターズ4 ~光と闇の争覇~, Master of Monsters Value Edition (the original game, updated and with expansion packs added in), and 真・マスターオブモンスターズ Final. There was also a spin-off of the game targeted towards the younger audience titled Masumon Kids, and there is now a cell-phone based version of the game available for the popular cell phone game market in Japan. Michael Jackson's Moonwalker is the name of several video games based on the 1988 Michael Jackson film, Moonwalker. U.S. Gold published various games for home computers, released in 1989, whilst Sega developed two similarly themed beat 'em up video games in 1990; one released for arcades and another released for the Sega Genesis and Sega Master System. Each of the games' stories loosely follow the story of the film, in which Michael Jackson must rescue kidnapped children from the evil Mr. Big, and incorporate synthesized versions of the musician's hits, such as Beat It and Smooth Criminal. The games, particularly the Genesis adaptation, have achieved cult status.

Micro Machines is the first game in the series laid the foundation of the gameplay: a top-down racing game with miniature vehicles. The race tracks are unconventionally themed. For example, some races take place on a billiard table while others occur in a garden. The cartridge itself was gold (black in Europe) with a switch at the bottom in order to be compatible with the American and European hardware. It was also released as an add-on to the Aladdin Deck Enhancer created by Codemasters.
The game was ranked the 14th best game of all time by Amiga Power, while Mega placed the game at #10 in their Top Mega Drive Games of All Time. MegaTech gave the game 92% and a Hyper Game award.
A remake of this game was later released in 2002. This version featured advanced graphics as well as characters having unique vehicles. Though it adhered as closely as possible to the original version, something was said to have been 'lost in the translation'.

Micro Machines 2: Turbo Tournament featured cars that require different handling techniques for each course and also hovercraft and helicopters. There are different playing modes including "head-to-head", in which each player earns points by driving a full screen ahead of the opponent. TV presenter Violet Berlin features as a playable driver. The MS-DOS version featured a track editor.
A selling point for the Sega Mega Drive versions was the J-Cart, a cartridge including two control ports, thus eliminating the need for a 4-player adaptor.[8] It also included a 'pad-sharing' feature which allowed 2 players to share a single joypad; thus it enabled 8 players to compete simultaneously, on certain tracks.
The 93% review in Mega described the game as "multi-player fun at its best".[9]
An updated version of Micro Machines 2: Turbo Tournament was only released in Europe for the Sega Mega Drive entitled Micro Machines Turbo Tournament '96, The updated version featured new tracks combined with some updated tracks from Micro Machines 2. It also featured a track construction kit previously included in the MS-DOS version.
